If you have ever been in the presence of a New Yorker while eating a harmless slice of pizza or a bagel, you already know that they will accost you with statements like “New York has the best pizza!!! And our bagels are untouchable!!!” OK, we get it.
But ever since February of 2017, little ol’ Rhode Island became a real contender in the bagel boxing ring. And the crowd goes wild! Enter: Providence Bagels.
Providence Bagels literally does everything the right way, they can do no wrong in my eyes. Bagel dough? Made in house. Cream cheese? Whipped fresh daily. Eggs to go on your fresh bagel? Cage free. Coffee? Organic, and fair trade. Reeeeally setting the bar high here, guys. Take note.
With 21 types of bagels, and 7 varieties of cream cheese that’s like….a ton of options. Sorry, I didn’t want to do that elementary school math there. Not into cream cheese? Lather your bagel with peanut butter or *gasps* nutella!!
But hey, cream cheese ain't the only thing to put in between two sides of a bagel. They’ve got a selection of unique sandwiches, like the The Harvest; Arugula, tomato marinated in lemon (oooo!), cucumber and herb oil. But me? I went with the Federal Hill, and oh boy, did it deliver. We’re talkin Egg, mozzarella, mushroom, red pepper and pesto. But please, tell me how great that frozen egg patty sandwich is. Psh!
Lucky for us, we got our hands on their Easter special, a magical tie-dye rainbow bagel. It's almost too pretty to eat (kidding), looking as though they took all the marshmallows from a box of lucky charms, and baked them into bagels. Magic! If the Easter bunny left a dozen or so in my basket, I’d be thrilled to pieces.
For my friends who keep it healthy, there’s greens on the menu. Along with cookies and muffins for my sweet toothies. Not to mention all the caffeinated beverages to keep you going.
And if you’re like, running late to work because you couldn’t find your car keys because your dog was napping on top of them but are starving and in need of something hearty and delicious NOW, don’t panic. Stay in your car and enjoy the convenience of the drive through!
So get on over there, and get ya buns a bagel. You deserve it!
