Cake; layers on layers of sweet, soft goodness held together and coated in velvet-like sugar. Plain vanilla with chocolate frosting may as well be white bread with mayo in the world of cakes today. AKA plain, and boring. Big fan of S’mores? No need for a fire pit, you can have the toasted marshmallow sweetness on your celebratory cake. Now, lets take it a step further. You love bacon? (This is a rhetorical question, because of course you like bacon. Unless you’re vegetarian/vegan in which case, I am sorry). Hows about a cake with candied bacon and a sweet buttercream frosting? Yes, Kentastic Cakes does that, and now all your cake dreams can come true.
However, Ken figured, why stop at cakes? He clearly has knack for sweets, so he explored other kinds of confections. Take a look at these baby bundt cakes. They’re made from scratch and dripping with house churned chocolate ganache. Here we’ve got black forest baby bundt (“baby bundt” just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? It sounds natural, and absolutely adorable. Like a baby cake who’s cheeks you wanna pinch). Black forest is a rich, dense, chocolate cake with a sweet cherry filling center. The other little bundt cake is a drunken turtle. Did you just picture a turtle too drunk to sit on a bar stool? Me too. Anyways, the drunken turtle is a chocolate bundt cake, chocolate ganache, and drizzled with a bourbon caramel and candied pecans. Doesn’t that sound just, divine?
For fun, Ken also takes some of America’s Sweethearts of junk food, Devil Dogs and Twinkies, dips them in chocolate and rolls em’ in sprinkles. Puts them on a popsicle stick and ropes you in, HOWDY!
Oh, and remember how I was raving about how flexible and diverse cakes can be? Don’t forget that it’s applicable to cupcakes as well. Here we have some of your favorite flavors in cupcake form; chocolate pineapple upside down cake, peanut butter and jelly, black forest, and my favorite, the Sunday Hangover. The Sunday Hangover is topped with a vanilla buttercream frosting, a bourbon caramel sauce, and you guessed it, bacon. To.Die.For.
If you’re reading all of this and wondering how Ken could possibly do it all, I’ve got the cherry on top of the sundae for you, literally. Ken carries a selection of hard ice cream along with all the traditional fixings. But if you couldn’t tell, nothing basic is coming out of his kitchen. Ken makes edible bowls in house, made of either hard candy or milk chocolate. The bread bowl of dessert, it’s just so satisfying when your utensils are made of more food.
Ken puts his own touch, or spin on everything he bakes so that it is unique to his cooking. Take the ice cream sundae; we know about banana splits, brownie sundae, even cookie sundae. We chose the Sunday Brunch cupcake, vanilla buttercream with bacon to grace our sundae. It was an exquisite marriage between breakfast and dessert!
