Sit. Stay. Good Boy! No, we are not talking to our very obedient dog, we are talking to you! Pull up a chair, sit down, stay a while! Now you’re good. (and just like a cute pup, we’re offering a treat). Broadway Bistro located on Broadway in Providence is the ideal spot for settling into a heart-felt meal that makes you sink into the cushions. Get comfy, because you’re going to want to stay a while.
The vibes of BB are that of crushed velvet; kinda sultry and sexy. The darkish interior sets the scene of a romantic and intimate evening (perfect for a first date, a 50th anniversary, and every celebration in between). Twinkling lit tree branches surround the large picture windows, throwing all sorts of magical vibes around the room, only enhancing the tone.
As a side notes, we love the set up of Broadway Bistro, because the bar area is somewhat separated from the dining room. So if you’re in the mood for a causal meal with cocktails, but want an elevated dish, this is perfect. (No need to settle of pub food just because you’re looking for a bar stool to relax on).
Our meal at BB was equally stunning as it was tasty. Meat tends to have drab neutral colors, but there is nothing boring about Broadway Bistro. So naturally, the presentation of the dishes were kicked up a notch with neon-esq slaws and pops of sunshine colored corn. And surprisingly enough, they tasted even better than they looked (so you can only imagine!).
Lets start with our starter; a delicately delicious tuna poke. What I love about raw, sushi grade tuna is that when it is paired with the right ingredients, the flavors of the fish are supremely enhanced. Here, it was home with a light soy marinade, jasmin rice, BB house pickled ginger, and some crisp wonton strips. The flavors of the soy and the tuna with the added texture of the wontons was just perfectly balanced.
The next dish our forks fell in love with was the seared trout. There is nothing quite like a fresh, perfectly cooked filet of fish. Being from the Ocean State, we are spoiled with fresh catches. But this also means that we know good fish when we meet one; and this was one sure was fine. The thin cuts of trout were seared with a light crisp on the skin and moist, fleshy meat. To compliment this gift of the sea was a warm cherry tomato salad, tossed with roasted corn, pistachio, quinoa, and finished with a dollop of salsa verde. Like we said, the dishes here were illuminated with colorful ingredients. Bright and flavorful, adding nutty, juicy and spicy tastes.
Finally, we feasted on the pork chop. Typically pork chops are low on my favorites list, but after biting into this dish I had a new found love. Well, at least a love for the Broadway Bistro pork chop (because I don’t know if I’ll have one that measures up!) Served in a blackened rub, and cooked to such a juicy, tender perfection. To make the bite complete, the pork was plated with a black eye pea succotash and a red cabbage slaw. Man,Oh, Man. This dish had the divine end of summer flavors, tangy and crisp.
When we initially sat down at BB, there was lots of rolling laughter, movement, and chatter amongst us. But once our forks touched the plates, we were quietly focused on savoring the flavors in front of us. And as I examined our meal and took in the surroundings, I came to the conclusion that this spot is not only the ideal “date night location” but also a cozy, welcoming gathering space for friends and family. Get you a restaurant that can do both!
We would like to thank the staff over at Broadway Bistro for taking care of us, being so accommodating, and letting us roam about the dining room while we took pictures! Y’all were wonderful, and we would come back just off of the strength of you! We are happy to share our experience with our family and friends because we know our recommendation would be sending them into good hands. Thank you!
Thank you also to our gorgeous model, Claribel! Starting as a self proclaimed Dominican Curly Hair Enthusiast, she took the title as she gained much popularity amongst the ladies online! And of course, a boisterous thank you to our photographer Nigel Fubara who brought so much focus and vision that he created photos that we just absolutely gushed over. The end result was sultry food, and phenomenal photos (which sounds like a win in my book!). Follow him on instagram for beautiful portraits, landscapes and everything in between!
